ACCNJ Signs Alliance with OSHA

As you know, ACCNJ hosted a Safety Symposium in late April, opening the event with a formal signing of our OSHA Alliance, witnessed by more than 50 ACCNJ contractor members and guests, including six representatives from OSHA. The Alliance establishes a forum for ACCNJ members to address safety issues, make safety a priority and enhance communication about safety issues with workers and the public by raising awareness of OSHA's rulemaking and enforcement initiatives, through training and education, and with outreach and communication.

Signing the Alliance with ACCNJ CEO Jack Kocsis was Robert Kulick, OSHA Region II Administrator, who called the signing "symbolic" and stated it solidified the relationship between ACCNJ and OSHA, distinguishing ACCNJ members from other contractors because of their active participation in safety initiatives.

In Bulletin 45-14, we included a copy of the Alliance, accessible in the members-only section at

In Memoriam:  Margaret Mary Baumgardner

With deep regret, we informed you this month of the passing of Margaret Mary Baumgardner, mother of George and John Baumgardner. Mrs. Baumgardner was 95, and passed away peacefully on May 14, 2014. She was the mother of 10 children, grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of six. Born in Philadelphia, she married her husband George in 1948 and shared 52 years of marriage with him until he passed away in 1999. Ocean City, New Jersey, eventually became their permanent home after spending countless summers there with children, friends and family. The funeral was held May 20, 2014, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Ocean City, with interment at Cape May Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Cape May Court House. Donations in memory of Margaret Baumgardner may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9 N., Swainton NJ 08210 or Ocean City Ecumenical Council's Community Food Cupboard and Clothes Closet, PO Box 1001, Ocean City NJ 08226. It was the first water resources bill enacted since 2007, and includes a new federal loan program for Army Corps of Engineers and EPA water projects called WIFIA -- Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act -- patterned after the TIFIA transportation loan program. The water bill now awaits President Obama's signature.
