ACCNJ Attends Carpenters Annual Open House and Skills Competition
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey (ACCNJ) attended the Carpenters’ Annual Open House and Skills Competition at the Carpenters Training Center in Edison.
High school students, adult cohorts, and workforce development partners were invited to attend and watch the best-trained, highly skilled union carpenter apprentices compete in an all-day construction competition. Attendees experienced a thrilling showcase of craftsmanship and speed as apprentices competed head-to-head, demonstrating their skills in a dynamic race against time.
Exhibitors were able to connect with industry professionals, elected officials, apprenticeship directors and instructors, contractors and others while attendees visited vendor booths and learned about the apprenticeship program.
“The Carpenters’ Annual Open House and Skills Competition is a great way to introduce anyone who may be interested in carpentry to the trade,” states Jack Kocsis, CEO, ACCNJ. “Allowing people to see the day-to-day activities of a union carpenter apprentice is an important first step in ensuring continuous recruitment and cultivating a skilled future workforce.”
Thank you to Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Centers, Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, and Carpenter Contractor Trust for hosting this great event.
