2016 Negotiations

In 2016, ACCNJ will negotiate with the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, Dockbuilders Local No. 1556, New Jersey Building Laborers, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and Teamsters Local No. 469 and Local No. 560, all of whose agreements expire on April 30, 2016. In addition, negotiations will be conducted with the Trenton Ironworkers, Local No. 68, and the Camden Ironworkers, Local No. 399, whose agreements expire on June 30, 2016. Information will be forthcoming as the negotiation process begins early next year.

US Senate Sends Transportation Spending Patch to President

In Bulletin 90-15, we reported the US Senate approved a measure on November 19 that extends federal transportation spending for another two weeks, setting a December 4 deadline for both houses to advance a more comprehensive multi-year initiative. Statewide Transportation Survey Results Released

In Bulletin 92-15, we released the results of a survey commissioned by the Operating Engineers, Local 825's labor/management group, Engineers Labor Employer Cooperative (ELEC), that polled likely general election voters in New Jersey on how they want New Jersey leaders to repair the failing Transportation Trust Fund. 2016 Proposed Slate of Officers & Trustees

In Bulletin 88-15, Active Members were sent the proposed slate of officers and trustees of the Association. Active Members in good standing will vote on the slate at the Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, December 8, at The Clubhouse at Galloping Hill in Kenilworth. Art Corwin of Moretrench to be Honored by The Moles

We are pleased to announce that Art Corwin, President and CEO of ACCNJ member Moretrench American Corp. has been selected to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award by The Moles, one of the industry's foremost construction organizations, at The Moles' Annual Award dinner at the New York Hilton on January 27, 2016. Art serves as a Highway Representative on the ACCNJ Board. During his 25 years as a member of The Moles, he has served as President and Trustee.


Education and Workforce Development

Student Summer Program/Career Fair

The application deadline for students to participate in the CIAP Summer Internship Program has closed. We are pleased to report 125 students from the following institutions have completed applications:  NJIT, FDU, Stevens, Rutgers, Rowan, University of Delaware, Villanova, TCNJ, Elizabethtown College, Essex County College, Union County College and Raritan Valley College. The students were invited to participate in an on-campus interview with Association and Contractor representatives. From those interviews, approximately 60 will be invited to attend the Career Fair, scheduled for January 6, 2016, at the Pines Manor, Edison. Safety Day 2016

Due to the success of last year's Safety Day, we will be offering it again in 2016. On April 20, ACCNJ members will be asked to display Association banners, conduct special safety talks, host recognition programs and bring a higher, coordinated effort of safety awareness to their jobsites. We will also reach out to OSHA and our labor partners as their involvement last year was instrumental in the program's achievements.

ACCNJ Membership Meeting - December 8 

We invite all members to join us for ACCNJ's Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, December 8, at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth. The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner and our program at 6:30 pm. We will recognize our outgoing Chair, Mark Hall, for his dedication and commitment to ACCNJ, especially during the merger. ACCNJ to Host US Green Building GPRO Series - January 15, 2016

ACCNJ will host the "Fundamentals of Building Green" certificate program on January 15. The four-hour course is a comprehensive approach to educating contractors and craftworkers by providing an experience focused on sustainability, green building, LEED and green work practices. Following the class, participants will break for lunch and then sit for the exam that leads to certification. 53rd Annual NJ Concrete Awards - Call for Nominations

The New Jersey Concrete and Aggregate Association and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Concrete Institute invite nominations for the 53rd Annual New Jersey Concrete Awards. Nominations should be of noteworthy projects completed during 2015 that highlight the successful application of concrete. Deadline for nominations is January 15, 2016.
